Torchwood season four is going to happen afterall
ByThe hugely successful “Torchwood: Children of Earth” has changed the future for Torchwood. With doubts of its return to BBC for season four, the tables were turned by the fans during the five-day series event. Even while filming, Torchwood creator Russell T. Davies was clueless as to whether or not BBC would commission a fourth season for the show.

But the latest news seems to confirm that Torchwood will indeed be back for another season. It is still unknown whether the new season will be another mini-series or a full 13-episode season, but Davies seems confident that he knows where Torchwood is headed.
Russell T. Davies broke the news exclusively to Torchwood Magazine, saying:
I could write you scene one of series four right now. I know exactly how to pick it up. I’ve got a shape in mind, and I’ve got stories. I know where you’d find Gwen and Rhys, and their baby, and Jack, and I know how you’d go forward with a new form of Torchwood.
Of course, the last sentence suggests we will probably be looking at a new team – “A new form of Torchwood,” especially since the deaths of Owen and Tosh in season two and then Ianto in Children of Earth.
Davies also gave strong indication at Comic Con that Torchwood would return for a fourth season, based on the success of Children of Earth. Dark Horizons reported the following after Comic-Con in July:
Asked about a fourth season of “Torchwood”, Davies wouldn’t confirm any specifics but indicated the success of ‘Children of Earth’ means its a certainty and he sounded excited to be involved. Fans though hoping for the return of some previously deceased cast members should not hold out hope.
Seems Torchwood is much too successful and far too big a property for BBC to let go. Season four is coming – and it sounds like it will be soon!
